Frown lines, sometimes called the "11 lines" or angry lines, are the vertical creases between your eyebrows caused by repeated frowning. They're a dynamic wrinkle, meaning they're caused by muscle movement, and one of the most requested treatments at Pêche Skin Clinic in Antwerp.
Frown lines develop from repeated contraction of the corrugator and procerus muscles, the muscles between your eyebrows that activate when you frown, concentrate, or squint against bright light. The more often these muscles contract, the deeper the line becomes etched into the skin. Over time, the line can remain visible even when your face is at rest.
Muscle Relaxant (botox) is the most effective treatment for frown lines. It targets the muscle activity causing the line, keeping the skin between your brows smooth.
Is the line still visible when your face is at rest (an "etched-in" line)? We often combine Muscle Relaxant with Profhilo or a Skinbooster to improve skin quality and further soften the line.

Botulinum toxin is one of the most studied treatments in aesthetics. Clinical research consistently shows good results for reducing frown lines, with a noticeable effect after 3 to 7 days that typically lasts 3 to 4 months.
Muscle Relaxant (botox) is the gold standard for frown lines. It targets the muscles between your eyebrows, softening the line without making your expression look unnatural.
The effect is usually visible within 3 to 7 days, with full results after about two weeks. Results typically last 3 to 4 months, after which a follow-up treatment is needed to maintain the effect.
Most people find the treatment causes minimal discomfort, similar to a small pinch. A fine needle is used and the treatment itself takes only a few minutes.
That means the line has already become etched into the skin. Muscle Relaxant prevents the line from deepening further, but for the existing line we often combine it with Profhilo or a Skinbooster to improve skin quality.
Products with retinol and peptides can support skin quality, but they don't address the muscle activity causing the line. We work with iS Clinical (medical-grade skincare) and Rebiome (natural skincare that strengthens the skin's microbiome), and our specialists are happy to give tailored product advice.
